Reach for the Stars

Term 2

Throughout the term we will enjoy reading, learning and re-telling stories. We will develop our skills in these areas:

- writing sentences with capital letters and full stops

- leaving finger spaces between words

- hearing and recording all of the sounds within words

- forming all of our letters correctly and sitting them on the line.

As well as continuing to consolidate and expand our number skills we are going to be focusing on:

- addition and subtraction

- geometry

- place value

'What do artists do?'

This term we are continuing our enquiry learning by thinking about 'what do artists do'. We are getting dotty, by looking at artists such as Damien Hurst and Yayoi Kusama who use their surroundings to inspire them in their own art work. We will be working in groups on joint collaborative pieces whilst also having the chance to create individual pieces. We look forward to inviting you to our end of enquiry art show.

'Who helps who?'

This is our third enquiry which we will be starting part way through the term. We are looking at different people who help us in our community but also in the wider world. This enquiry will also give us the chance to be historians as we will study important figures from the past such as the nurse Princess Campbell and Mary Carpenter who set up a homeless charity in Bristol. As always we will be developing our skills as philosophers by asking purposeful questions.
