Term 4

Our learning this term......

Our enquiry this term is ‘What did Brunel do for Great Britain?

This will not only help us develop our skills as engineers and historians, but inspire us to become successful author writers and write a persuasive text, persuading someone to invest in building a bridge.

We will be luckily able to meet a real engineer who has worked in Bristol to talk to us about the skills and processes needed in engineering.

We will then be using our knowledge and skills to design and build a bridge that can withstand weight!

Watch this space to find out about our celebration exhibition that we will be hosting at the end of the enquiry, as we show off our learning through our ‘challenge’ work.

In other news, we will be celebrating World Book Day by dressing up and doing lots of fun activities on 7th March!  Stay tuned for pictures and updates of World Book Day!

Red Nose Day is the 15th of March, look out for baby photos of staff and guess who is who!

Author Writers:

  • Adding a range of suffixes including –ing, -ed, -er –est –ful –less –ness and -ment to words where the root word changes (for example ‘skipped, happily)
  • Using contractions (can’t, won’t, wouldn’t, I’m)
  • Proof-read and edit spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Joined handwriting

    Mathematicians:

This term, we will be consolidating a range of calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will also be taking part in different investigations and applying our maths skills to help us solve problems.
