Term 4

Term 4:

Welcome back, we hope you enjoyed the half term! We are looking forward to Term 4 and the fun that it will bring. We will begin the term with computing week where we will explore digital media using the chrome books.

Enquiry Learning

We will begin with a new enquiry, ‘What grows near me?’ where we will be scientists learning about the structure and parts of plants, as well as being able to name different wild and common plants. We will visit a local orchard and as engineers our challenge will be to design and make a wrap. Look out for new vocabulary such as evergreen, vegetation and diciduous as part of word of the week.

Philosophers (PSHE)

We move onto the 'Healthy Me' jigsaw piece. The children will learn about mental wellbeing as well as physical wellbeing. We will learn how to make healthy choices as well as keep safe with household products. We will also be exploring medicine safety as well as road safety while thinking deeply as a philosopher.

Mathematicians:

We will be exploring number stories where children will continue developing their knowledge on commutativity and then use part part, whole models to explore the inverse operation.

Authors:

Our challenge as an author writer is to invent a traditional tale. We will be exploring the tale 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. After we have spent time re-telling the story, sequencing the story and hot seating we will begin planning our own invention of the traditional tale.

Athletes (PE)

The children have 2 sessions weekly and will be doing gym lessons whilst continuing with personal and social skills through REAL PE.

Key Information

Homework: Your child will be given phonics homework every Friday where they can practise GPC's learned as well as stretching and reading real words and nonsense words (alien words).  We would be really grateful if you could support them in their learning

P.E:
