The children have all been working hard as engineers and artists to make their own card games. They designed their game; wrote instructions on how to play it as well as making an envelope to keep their game in before they made their final product. The children have enjoyed playing their games with each other and they invited children from Jupiter Class to play them too!
As part of our enquiry learning, we are exploring old and new toys. Today we made a cup and ball game following a series of instructions. After making the game, we wrote our own instructions using time openers and imperative (bossy) verbs. We enjoyed playing our games and we hope you enjoy playing them at home too!
As author writers, we have been enjoying learning 'Where the Wild Things are'. We became kings and queens just like Max in the story. We made crowns and wore these crowns to inspire us as writers. We wrote about what we would wear, eat, where we would live and what we would do if we were a king or a queen for a day.
As mathematicians, we have started to explore 'capacity'. We have been exploring how much liquid different containers hold. We used mathematical language including 'empty, full, half full, a quarter full and three quarters full.' It would be great if we could look at different containers at home to explore their capacity too!
Our new talk for writing story is 'Where the Wild Things Are'. To immerse ourselves with our new fantasy story, we enjoyed creating our own blow paint monsters!
