As part of their Science learning on plants, Neptune class have enjoyed going outside to find different types of plants. Today, they did some observational drawings of different plants within the school grounds. The children have also been labelling the parts of a flower and they will move on to exploring the parts of a tree later in the topic.
In Science, the children have been learning to name and describe animal groups in order to sort animals into these groups. The children explored the different groups; birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles and mammals and made a poster containing key information about each group.
In week one Maths, we have been learning about volume and capacity. We explored the capacities of different containers using water and using mathematical vocabulary to explain if they were empty, full or half full and some of us explored a quarter full and three quarters full too. We have also been estimating and measuring accurately how much water different containers hold. We were surprised that sometimes the tallest containers didn’t hold the most water as some of the smaller, wider containers held more and we thought about why this might be.
