What can you do at the seaside?
This term we will be starting of by exploring the story The light house keeper's lunch by Ronda and Davide Armitage. We are going to be looking at healthy eating, making our own picnics and enjoying a picnic lunch together outside (so long as its dry). We will also be reading Lucy and Tom at the seaside by Shirley Hughes, discovering all the fun things we can do at the beach, such as eating ice creams, making sandcastles, and discovering creatures and treasures in the rockpools. We will finish the term by reading a variety of poems all about sea creatures through the book Commotion in the ocean by Giles Andreae, we will exploring, drawing and creating our own sea creatures using a variety of materials such as junk modeling or playdough/clay.
Our PSHE Jigsaw theme this term is Changing me, we will be discussing our transition into Reception, finding out who our new teachers will be and meet them to share stories. We will also be learning about sun safety, so that we can be safe whilst having fun in the sun and on our holidays.
Through our phonics we will continue to learn new letters, their sounds and letter names as well as how to correctly form the letters. We will continue to develop our blending skills to read consonant, vowel, consonant (CVC) and Consonant, consonant, vowel, consonant/consonant, vowel, consonant, constant (CCVC/CVCC) words. As well as listening very carefully to the sounds in words in order to write them, using sound mats and the letter formation ditties to help us.

Read individual letters by saying the sounds for them.
