Weekly update - Term 3, week 3

Essential information for the week and term ahead

February Holiday Club

See the attachment with information on booking February half term holiday club with Munchkins, or visit www.munchkinschildcare.co.uk

Road calming works

According to information we have seen published by a local councillor, road calming works around the school are due to take place this summer. This includes installing textured pavements around all drop kerbs, a new zebra crossing running across Langton Court Road and a priority narrowing in front of the school's main entrance.

We are hopeful that these measures will improve the safety of St Anne's children and other pedestrians walking into and around the school.

Reminder: Height, weight and vision checks for Reception-aged children

Please view the attached letter & leaflet regarding height and weight checks for reception children.

Reminder: U16s Social Media

If you would like to write to your MP and voice your support for a social media ban for under 16s, you can use this link and the website will write the letter for you: https://smartphonefreechildhood.eaction.org.uk/raise-the-age .

Reminder: Bristol Parent Carers

Bristol Parent Carers have asked us to share their January Newsletter, as well as an invitation to a Let’s Talk About Health Visiting and School Nursing online session (see flyer attached).

Bristol Parent Carers support parents and carers of children with SEND and work with Bristol City Council to ensure they are meeting children's needs. Inside their newsletter you will find information on Sirona's Sensory Workshops, the Right to Choose pathway and sports activities for children with SEND.

Please click the link here for the Newsletter: https://midd.me/qJwP

Also, if you have experience of Health Visiting and/or School Nursing services, Bristol Parent Carers would love to hear your feedback. You will receive a £10 thank you voucher for taking part in this very important conversation. Don't miss the opportunity to have your voice heard and help shape Bristol's future strategies!

The Let’s Talk session is on Thursday 5th February at 7pm and can be booked by clicking here.

PE KIT

Please can all families make sure that PE Kit is labelled as well as regular school uniform. As always, we have a growing collection of items left in school.

Bringing items to school & cosmetics

Can parents please make sure that personal items are not brought to school: Toys, pencil cases, stationery, notebooks etc.

There have also been a few instances of children putting on lip gloss and blusher - we ask that parents ensure their children do not wear these things when coming to school

Calling for a Book Amnesty!

We are hoping you can help us with a little book hunt to make sure all our children can continue to enjoy reading at school.

Phonics Books
We are currently running very low on our Phonics reading books at Levels 5, 6 and 7. This means some children are needing to re-read familiar books or choose books that aren’t quite right for their reading level.
Please could you have a quick look around your homes, cars, and school bags to see if any phonics books have found a cosy spot there and bring them back into school when you can.

Library Books
At the moment, we have 293 overdue library books. We would be so grateful if you could check at home for any library books so we can reduce this number and refresh the range of exciting book genres available.
We absolutely love seeing children reading for pleasure and would love an equally full library for everyone to enjoy!

Children visit the library and change their reading books weekly, so please help them remember to have their books in their bags on their allotted library day.

To make things extra easy, next week there will be two boxes by the school gate:

  • One for Phonics books
  • One for Library books

We know books have a habit of hiding, and we’re just very thankful to welcome them back home.

PANTS Week

As part of PANTS Week, children are learning about personal boundaries, consent, and keeping themselves safe in a fun and age-appropriate way. We would be very grateful if you could continue these conversations at home with your child, reinforcing the ideas shared in school. Gentle reminders about respecting personal space, understanding boundaries, and looking after ourselves and others can make a big difference. By working together, we can help children feel confident, safe, and respectful of each other.
