St Anne’s Nursery - About us

Welcome to St Anne's Nursery.

A very warm welcome to St Anne’s Nursery. We are called Sun Class. We are thrilled that you have chosen for your child to start their pre-school learning journey here.

As a nurturing school, we aim to develop the whole child whilst helping our pupils to fulfil their full potential in the Early Years Areas of Learning and the Characteristics of Effective Learning. We recognise the importance of learning through play.

Our opening hours are between 8.40am and 3.00pm,  Monday to Friday. St Anne's Infants' School Breakfast Club operates from 8.00 - 8.40 am (chargeable) but there is not wraparound care for Nursery-aged children after school at the current time.

We are a 52 place part-time equivalent setting, with a maximum of 26 children attending our nursery at any one time. We are staffed by an Early Years qualified teacher and a Level 3 Early Years Support Assistant.

Children aged three and over can use their Free Entitlement or their Extended Free Entitlement to attend our setting for 15 or 30 hours a week (eligibility dependent upon Government criteria).

Our part-time places are offered either at the beginning (Monday all day, Tuesday all day and Wednesday morning) or the end (Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and all day Friday) of the week.

In the event of us having capacity, a 'Top-up' facility is offered at a charge of £20 per morning/afternoon. However, this is only guaranteed for one long term (September - December, January - March or April - July) as we are obliged to prioritise places for those wishing to use their Free Entitlement.

We are a term-time only setting (please ask us about the holiday arrangements our families make).

Please take a look at our photo gallery for a fuller flavour.

Lunches

The children eat lunch in the nursery building.

Packed Lunches:

If you are opting for your child to eat a packed lunch then here are a some things to note:

  • Please pack the lunch in a  lunchbox. The lunchbox is stored on a trolley and it helps if the lunchbox is not too big.
  • Please ensure the lunchbox is clearly marked with your child's name.
  • The children will use their water bottles at lunch time and throughout the day so there is no need to send an additional drink.
  • In line with our Food and Nutrition policy, we encourage healthy packed lunches (for example; a sandwich, a piece of fruit and a yoghurt)
  • We ask that children do not bring in chocolate bars or sweets.

To protect children who may have nut allergies, we kindly ask families to provide a nut free lunch (including no peanut butter or chocolate spread).

Hot School Meals:

Children are welcome to purchase a hot lunch from Term 2. The £2.65 charge per meal is paid for in advance via the 'My Child At School' App. The menu is accessed via the School website.

Tapestry

Tapestry is the online platform that we use to record your child's learning journey through photographs and written observations. We encourage parents and carers to share their child's home learning, interests, activities and celebrations by uploading photos and text to the site.

If you need support and guidance with using this, please chat to a member of the Nursery Team who will be more than happy to go through any questions with you.

Families will receive login details during Term 1 or on joining the School in the case of mid-year admissions.
