At St  Anne’s Infants', we use the Writing Triangle to help children understand what good writing involves. It brings together three key elements: Text Generation (the ideas, vocabulary and sentences children create), Transcription (the spelling, handwriting and punctuation that help them record their ideas clearly) and Executive Function (the planning, focus and checking skills that help them organise and improve their work). These processes work together to build confident, independent writers. We also support children’s Working Memory, which helps them hold ideas and instructions in mind as they write.
