This term our enquiry is ‘How do we celebrate?’
As philosophers, the children will discuss celebrations they know and take part in such as birthdays and also learn about celebrations which are important to people of different religions such as Diwali and Eid. We are excited to learn about how these festivals are celebrated and what similarities and differences there are between different religious festivals. This enquiry also follows our RE learning this term in which our ‘big question’ is ‘Which times are special and why?’
In literacy we will be reading the stories ‘Billy’s Bucket’ and ‘Julian at the Wedding’ and the children will begin to use their phonics knowledge to write sounds and simple words.
In maths this term the children will be learning about the numbers up to 10 in depth. This includes counting, representing different numbers and exploring how to partition a number. We will also begin learning about shape by focusing on a different shape each week. The children will learn to name, describe and find the shapes in everyday objects, such as knowing that a clock has a circle face.
