    Term 1, week 3 update – St Anne’s Infants School & Nursery

    Dear Parents & Carers,

Please see below communications from school. Please read and action where necessary:

    Whole school messages:

Census Day – 2nd October: The Autumn Census takes place on this date, and we would encourage all children to take a hot school dinner on this day (of course, free for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2). Each child recorded as having a dinner this day increases our funding for universal free school meals and can affect the school’s budget. We will be cooking all the children’s favourites on this day: Cheese & Tomato Pizza, Sausages & Fish Fingers with chips (plus pasta and jackets). Regular menus will not be running on this day. Please could we ask all parents to make a selection in MCAS.

Open days for Reception 2026: Details on the attached poster. Parents are welcome to share on social media and group chats etc.

School Nurse drop-in: There will be a school nurse drop-in on Thursday 9th October from 9am to 10.45am in St. Anne's Church Hall. All parents and carers are welcome and there is no need to book. You will be able to have an informal discussion about your child's health and well-being.

    Topics for discussion include:

    • Emotional health
    • Healthy eating
    • Healthy relationships
    • Physical health concerns
    • Sleep
    • Continence

*If you would like any further information about this session please speak to Mrs Owen (Pastoral Lead).

Flu spray vaccinations 21st October: Reminder: Use this link to consent: Sirona care & health .

Enrichment clubs: Lingohoop (Tuesdays), are still hoping for some more signups – if interested, send Sarah an email lingohoop@gmail.com .

Friends of St Anne's - AGM: See attached poster with attendance details.

Cleverchefs: Reminder: For those that currently require a special diet menu or for any new Nursery/Reception children with a food allergy, please complete the special diet request form here: SPECIAL DIETS / ALLERGY FORM . Please note that those children with allergies that do not have a special diet menu in place will not be able to eat school meals until this is done.

We hope to be able to share the new menu for the children over the next week or two, but in the meantime the foodies amongst you can read the new Cleverchefs magazine here: https://online.fliphtml5.com/sqkbw/wucj/ .

    Harvest:

We will be celebrating Harvest Festival in school on Thursday 9th October, with a special assembly where the children will share the harvest songs they have been learning in class with the rest of the school.

We will also be collecting donations of food and other items to support Bristol Food Banks. We would really appreciate any donations that you can make. Currently, South and East Bristol Foodbank are particularly asking for:

    ● Deodorant

    ● Washing up liquid

    ● Soap

    ● Tinned tomatoes

    ● Nappies

    ● Shampoo

    ● Pasta

    ● Tea bags

    ● Tinned soup

Please send any donations in to school with your child from Friday 3rd October. They will be collected in classes and then brought to the hall prior to our school harvest assembly on the 9th October, after which, they will be donated to the foodbank.

Lunches: We want to encourage all nursery children to eat a hot school meal where possible, but please note that these must be paid for and ordered in advance on MCAS. Children in receipt of Free School Meals will not be charged when making a selection – if you think that your child could be entitled to free school meals but have not yet completed the application, please complete the following form: Free School Meal and Pupil Premium Checker Form (parents should have completed this when starting but if not, please do complete).

    Reception

    No new updates

    Year 1

Year 1s have started their very exciting enquiry this week on 'What do Artists do?'. We will be exploring all different types of techniques such as pointillism and using different materials. To help with their understanding, we are thrilled to have a real life and local artist, Laura come into St Anne's to run a workshop with the children and give them an opportunity to ask some questions. We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £2.10 per child for this activity, which can be purchase via the ‘store’ on MCAS. Parents that wish to ‘pay forward’ for another child can add multiple units in the shop and check out as many times as they would like.

    Year 2

Once subscribed the calendar will automatically update with new events and any updates – this means that school events are always in your calendar with no extra work needed!

If you need a password reset for My Child at School (MCAS), please complete this form: https://form.jotform.com/252541744332049 . There will also be a QR code to scan on the main office door and in Nursery.

Signing in and out. Please use the tablet in reception to sign you child in and out when:

    • Arriving late from 8:55am onwards – please note parents MUST accompany their child to reception and sign them in.
    • When taking your child out of school before the end of the day (for appointments or for any other reason).
    • When arriving to collect your child after 3:25pm.

Toys: Please do not allow children to bring in toys, including fidget toys.  IF a child is in need of a fidget toy, this will be provided by the school and in consultation with the teacher.

Playground etiquette: Parents are responsible for preventing their children and siblings using teletubby land and climbing frame during drop off and pick up.

All parents to use the one way system in the morning and afternoon: - a number of parents are slipping out the wrong which causes congestion and presents risks of injury and/or children becoming separated from parents in the playground.

Drop off: Please can we ask parents not to come into the school building in the morning and to say goodbye at the doors. Also, please do not stand in front of the door as this can be confusing, overwhelming and an obstacle for other children coming in.

Please name jumpers and cardigans - including hand me downs!

    Opportunities to help/get involved

Coffee morning & resources prep – 23rd September at 9:00am to 10:15am: A chance to come to school and have a cuppa with Mrs Owen, whilst helping the school chop/prepare small resources for the children. All help appreciated. Meet in reception.

Reading volunteers: Reading volunteers are always welcome. If interested, please contact the school office school@stannesinfants.co.uk .

Amazon Wishlist: Parents that wish to purchase a small resource for the school can do so via our Amazon wish list here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/195O56MESW3K6?ref_=abls_nvfly_yl
