  • Weekly update - Term 3, week 5

Essential information for the school week ahead

    Anaphylaxis KITT

We're delighted to inform all parents that we will be partnering with KITT Medical to install an anaphylaxis KITT on site. The KITT will contain 4 adrenaline auto-injector pens, designed to provide emergency treatment to children and adults suffering from anaphylaxis. We believe this is a huge step forward in managing allergic reactions for the school and we thank the Friends of St Anne's Infants for providing the funding for us to do this.

    New bike and scooter racking

Over the coming weeks, Mr Radcliffe will be updating our bike and scooter storage, and we hope to double our capacity to cater for all of our children that love to cycle and scoot into school. We hope that the additional space will be taken up by the bikes & scooters of even more of our children.

    Threadworms

There has been a reported case of Threadworms at school this week. To avoid more children suffering from the affliction, please can parents check their children for symptoms and medicate as soon as possible if they are discovered, whilst discussing preventative measures such as handwashing. NHS advice on Threadworms is available here: Threadworms - NHS .

    Cloakroom etiquette - a reminder

Despite our request last week, some parents are still accompanying their children into the cloakroom, please ensure that you are not doing this going forwards for both space and safeguarding reasons. At this stage of the school year, we believe that most (if not all) children are independent enough to make their way in and hang up their coat and book bag.

Reminder - Calling for a Book Amnesty!

Phonics Books, Shared Reader books and Library Books

We have only had a scant few books returned to us, please can we ask all parents to hunt around their homes and make sure that books are coming back into school as soon as possible. Thank you.

    Parent Survey

Thanks to everyone who has completed the recent parent survey on Experiences and Belonging in the school community. We would love to get as many responses as possible before the end of the week so please pour yourself a cuppa and take 5 minutes to complete it https://forms.office.com/e/5N0249NbbJ - Thank you!.

    Appeal for spare clothes

We are desperately short of girls underwear,  leggings, boys and girls trousers and jogging bottoms 3-4 5-6. If you have benefited from an item of clothing loaned to your child, please return it to school (clean).

Donations of additional items would also be hugely welcome.

World Book Day - Special Menu

On Thursday 5th March the children will be offered a special 'Matilda'-themed menu to celebrate world book day. This is offered instead of hot mains/baguettes on this day (children will still be able to order jackets and tomato pasta instead of the main). Poster is attached.

All selections are now available on MCAS up until the end of term 4. Cleverchefs will then be starting their new spring menu from term 5.

    Nursery
    • Number Day - On Wednesday, Sun Class celebrated Number Day with a number hunt and number disco. We enjoyed being Mathematicians! Why not take a peek at our fun photos on Tapestry.

    • Clothes donations - leggings/trousers - Sun Class would welcome donations of pre-loved trousers or leggings in sizes Ages 3-4 or Ages 4-5. Many thanks.

    • Phonics - Next week, we will focus on letter 't'. We'll clue ourselves into the sound letter 't' makes by saying the alliterative phrase 'Tap the tall tower'. When forming the letter, we'll use the cue 'Down the tower, lift and cross'.

    Reception
    • A separate comms and announcement has been sent regarding Forest School (arrangements and costs). The letter is also attached at the bottom of this page for parents to read and action.
    • Usports are continuing the sports club for reception children in Term 4. A leaflet with instructions on how to sign up is attached - there are only 12 spaces, so please do book for your child as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
    Year 1
    • Scales & Tails was a huge success. Big thank you to all parents that contributed towards the visit financially. The school broke even on this event, particularly due to some parents that paid contributions for as many as 7 children. We know who you are and we are massively grateful for your additional contribution.
    • Next week we are writing and recording our own weather reports in Writing, in maths we are representing numbers 6-10 on part whole models and number lines. For our enquiry we are going to be Engineers looking at different levers, with our end challenge to make a pop up book for a chosen animal.
    • We are noticing in phonics that children are struggling with the digraphs- ue (glue), aw (paw) and ew (chew) and are struggling to recognise them when reading. Please can you practice stretching and reading words with these sounds in to aid their phonics confidence.
    • If anyone has any Pop up or leavered books, could they bring them in next week so we can show children what they are aiming for with their challenge. These books will be kept safe on Teachers desks and will be read by Teachers.
