  • Weekly Update - Term 4, Week 3

Essential information for the week ahead

    Mother's Day Breakfast

What an amazing turnout we had for this event! Big thank you to all involved. If you would like to see any pictures, these can viewed by clicking here: St Anne's Infant School - Mother's Day Breakfast 2026

    Munchkins Easter HAF scheme

Please view the document at the bottom of the page for information about the Easter Holiday HAF scheme, offered by Munchkins Childcare.

    Comic Relief

We won’t be taking part in Comic Relief this year. This term is particularly busy with World Book Day, the Great Athletes Event, Mothers' Day breakfast, several classes earning their Star in a Jar rewards etc. We know Comic Relief is an important charity but we want to keep the children's routines calm and consistent to help them stay focused and settled in school.  Thank you for your understanding.

    STEM Week

Next term at St Anne's all classes will be participating in our STEM week (WB 4.5.26) - celebrating all things science, technology, engineering and maths. To bring these topics to life, we would love to have some visitors in to talk to the children about their jobs and how they use these skills in their role. If you have a job in science, computer programming, engineering or utilising maths, and would be happy to talk to your child's class, please get in touch with your child's class teacher.

    Spare clothing needed

We are looking for donations of boys trousers, socks for both boys and girls. We would also welcome and school shorts or skirts. If you have anything to spare, please drop them into the office.

    • Pre-loved donations - Sun Class would welcome donations of wellies in sizes 8 to 12.
    • Phonics -Next week, we will focus on letter 'm'. We'll listen for the sound letter 'm' makes by saying the alliterative phrase 'The man marches on mountains'. When writing the letter, we'll use the cue 'From the man go down, climb one mountain and then the other.'

    Year 1
    • In our enquiry we are going to continue exploring Princess Campbell and Florence Nightingale and comparing their lives to a nurse today. In writing we are going to start looking at the Traditional Tale Hansel and Gretel and in maths we are going to look at subtraction within 10.
    • We are going to start completing the full Phonics Screener next week, so please can you keep reading with your children at least 3 times a week so they are constantly practicing stretching and reading words.
    • Neptune's library day is Thursday and Venus class is on Friday. The library book need to be brought into school on their library day so they can borrow a new one. They will only be able to borrow a new one if they have brought it in. If you are unsure what books have been borrowed please speak to Miss Pope or Miss Watkins.
    • We are going to go on a short walk to the woods on Friday 20th March at 2:30pm. This will support the children's writing outcome and help to generate some adjectives for Hansel and Gretel. We are looking for 4 adults from each class. Please let us know if you can volunteer.
