  • Weekly Update - Term 4, Week 5

Essential information for the week ahead

    Animal Professional Required!

The children in Reception will be learning about how to care for animals next term. We are looking for someone who is a vet or veterinary nurse, or someone who works in animal welfare, who would be happy to come in and speak to the Reception children about some of the ways they can help care for animals. If you think you could help, please contact either Miss Robertson (mars@stannesinfants.co.uk) or Mr Soper (earth@stannesinfants.co.uk)

A celebration of creativity, colour and the joy of spring

We’re delighted to invite all children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to take part in our Spring Art Competition.

This year, we’re embracing the season with a special theme: SPRING. From blooming flowers to baby animals, sunshine, rain showers or anything that makes spring feel magical — we can’t wait to see how the children interpret it.

    🌟 How to Take Part
    - A £2 suggested donation can be made via MCAS.
    - Children can draw it, paint it, build it or snap it — any medium is welcome.
    - Entries should reflect the theme of spring in any creative way they choose.

    - Artwork Deadline:
Please submit entries to your child’s teacher after the Easter holidays, no later than Thursday 23rd April.

Also - please respect the one-way system - in to the left, out the other way. This is to avoid collisions and injuries, therefore don't be suprised if we stop you from going the wrong way.

    • 'Star in the Jar' treat - Sun Class are proud to have filled their 'Star Jar' and are invited to help celebrate by wearing their pyjamas to nursery on Wednesday 1st April.

    • Head lice - please check your child's hair for lice.

    • Phonics - next week, we will focus on letter 'g'. We'll listen for the sound letter 'g' makes by saying the alliterative phrase 'The girl is glad.'  When writing the letter, we'll use the cue 'Left around the girl, then down her plait and curl.'

    • Resources payments are overdue for a lot of parents - please be aware that when applying for a nursery place, you agreed to ensure that the £5 per term payments were made. Could we please ask that if you have any outstanding payments that these are made by Thursday 2nd April.

    Year 2
    • We hope all the children enjoyed their trip to the SS Great Britain this week. Big thank you to all volunteers and parent helpers that made the trip possible.
    • Despite multiple reminders, many parents failed to specify if they required a school packed lunch or were bringing one from home. This resulted in more lunches being made than required, substantial food wastage and costs to the school were incurred, which is not a great scenario. Going forwards, can ALL parents & carers please read and action requests that are sent to them to avoid us being forced to restrict school packed lunches to those children eligible for free school meals.
    • A big thank you to all those parents that did make a lunch selection from MCAS well ahead of the trip.
