This term, in Reception, our enquiry question is 'Where can we go?' We will be exploring some key geographer skills such as simple map drawing and looking at the features of our local environment. We will explore what makes our school special and then, through weekly trips to the woods, we will think further about the things we see in our local area. We will make connection to our RE learning this term: 'Which places are special?', where we will learn about why churches and mosques are important to people in our community.
In maths, we will be revisiting repeating patterns and extending our learning by continuing 3 part patterns. We will then be exploring what a double is - recognising that a double is made of two equal parts, and will look at number patterns such as finding odd and even numbers.
In literacy, we will be reading three texts linked to transport - Mr Gumpy's Outing, Duck in the Truck and Naughty Bus. With a focus on constructing simple sentences, and applying digraph sounds, the children will engage in exciting and purposeful writing activities including writing a letter for mothers' day and creating their own naughty vehicle stories.
