This term, in Reception, our enquiry question is 'How have we changed?' As historians, we will be learning about our life histories and thinking about how we have changed and the skills we have learnt since we were born. The children will be using words such as 'past', 'present', 'then' and 'now' and creating their own timelines.
In literacy, we will be reading Zog, Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs and The Dinosaur That Pooped the Past. The children will be honing their sentence writing skills; ensuring their sentences can be read by themselves and others by including finger spaces and using neat and accurate letter formation. We will also be challenging ourselves to write two or more linked sentences and begin to use full stops and capital letters.
In maths, we will be exploring shape, space and measure. The children will learn new vocabulary to compare lengths, weight, height and capacity and will then begin to think about ways that these things can be measured, such as using blocks to measure and compare the height of two items.
