We have lots of exciting learning opportunities coming up for Year 1 this term. Firstly we will be learning about Autumn in our enquiry What Changes Around Me? We will be doing lots of close observation of the features of Autumn as well as learning about Autumn weather. In our next enquiry - How Has My School Changed? - we will be historians, finding out about how St Anne's has changed over time and comparing the past and present. As we get closer to the end of the term, we will be busy practicing for our wintry performance!
As readers, we will be learning new GPCs in phonics and practising our reading daily in Shared Reading lessons. We will be enjoying new stories including Fletcher and the Falling Leaves and One Snowy Night.
As mathematicians we will continue to develop our fluency and confidence with numbers through regular Mastering Number sessions. We will also be comparing measures and numbers, building on our knowledge of addition and subtraction and beginning to learn about the time.
We are also excited to be starting Forest School with Year 1 this year and Group 1 from Neptune class will be going to the woods on Friday mornings this term.
Keep an eye on the website for photo updates of our learning!
