    Please use these phonics resources to support your child with phonics and reading at home.

    • The red words, also known as  'common exception words' or 'sight words', are words that need to be read by sight as they cannot be phonetically decoded.  Children in Year 1 need to be able to read and write all of the words in Blue by the end of Year 1. (The words in orange are supplementary). 
    • The alphabet strip has the pictures the children have learnt to associate with each letter and sound. 
    • The GPC mat has all of the GPCs that we will learn in Year 1. Some will already by familiar from Reception.
