  • St Anne's is awarded the Advanced Mental Health and Wellbeing badge

    Wed 26 Sep 2018

"St Anne’s Infant School are the third school in Bristol to have achieved the ADVANCED Mental Health and Wellbeing Badge. This was a really strong submission with impressive results and a careful needs analysis to identify what the priorities were. The school designed a broad range of interventions which were carefully thought out to reduce the amount of behaviour incidents recorded in the playground at both play time and lunch time and increase the number pupils who report that they feel happy and safe in the playground. We were particularly impressed with the den building area and assembly on how to use it appropriately to enhance team work as well as a safe, quiet zone. They have a very good, broad range, on offer for universal use and also careful targeted approaches for children who really need structured focus at break/lunchtimes. The schools results have far exceeded set targets which is evidence of a fantastic, well planned piece of work bringing significant positive impacts on both pupils and staff wellbeing. This is an example of great best practice and very well done to all involved."

  • Architect visit

    Thu 20 Sep 2018
An architect came to visit Year 2 today to engage children in their enquiry question ‘what could my classroom be made of?’.
He spoke about what an architect is, the skills he uses, and discussed the importance of other professionals who work along architects to create a brief from a client.
He also demonstrated using his special tools to quickly and accurately measure the length and height of rooms using a laser!
Year 2 will soon be ‘being engineers’ to design and create their own classrooms!

This morning Year One were treated to a visit from Ani from Milliners' Guild. We had a wonderful morning trying on different hats, learning about how hats are made and all of the different materials that can be used to make hats. We are very excited to learn more about hats as part of our enquiry 'what is my hat made of?'
