  • World Book Day 2024

Thu 07 Mar 2024 Ellie Matthews

This year was yet another excellent World Book Day at St Anne's. The children had a day immersed in stories and creativity, made all the more enjoyable by wearing a costume of their favourite character. Today we shared our classrooms with some spectacular witches and wizards, a huge range of cheeky and friendly animals and many, many more. Colourful Minds really brought our day to life with a range of crafts linked to space, the jungle, the woods and under the sea. Our artworks will be on display around the school for you to enjoy in the next couple of weeks.

  • Year 2 Cake and Book Sale

Fri 03 Nov 2023 Ellie Matthews

Year 2 were successful St Anne's citizens, hosting our Year 2 cake and book sale. The children and their families provided donations of homemade and bought cakes and cookies for the rest of the school to share. They supported Miss Matthews and Mr J by arranging the books and cakes on the stalls and making posters with excellent advertising slogans including  'buy more cake' and 'tasty cakes for sale'. To help run the event, all of Year 2 manned the stalls, talking to the parents and children that came to buy books and cakes, taking donations of money and handing over purchases, all with a friendly face. In total, we raised a whopping £307! Well done Year 2!

  • Harvest

Wed 04 Oct 2023 Emily Robertson

The children concluded their harvest activities today with a visit from Pastor Neil at our harvest assembly. The children were excited to share the harvest songs they have been practising in singing assembly and in their classes. Thank you to all the families who were able to donate food and toiletries for our harvest collection. Your generous donations have gone to East Bristol Food Bank who will distribute it to those in need.

  • Internet Safety Day 2023

Tue 07 Feb 2023 Alice Tomlinson

Today we celebrated Internet Safety Day 2023. The theme this year is ' Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online.' In classes the children discussed using the rule stop, close, tell if they come across something worrying when using the internet. Our E-safety team shared actions to remind the children to stop, close, tell. Each class talked about safe adults they could speak to if they needed help on the internet or were worried about anything they had seen.

  • Toy Swap

    Tue 06 Dec 2022

The Toy Swap was a great success and saw lots of children leaving school with a big smile and ‘new’ toy in hand. It was an inspired idea from Matilda in Year 1 to help families declutter and support with the cost of living crisis ahead of Christmas, a young person destined to go far! A huge thank you to Matilda’s dad who set the swap up and took all the remaining items to charity.

  • Fire Service Visit

    Fri 04 Nov 2022

We had a very exciting visit from Avon and Somserset Fire Service this morning. We not only learned a lot about staying safe on bonfire night this weekend, we found out about what the fire service do all year round, explored a fire engine and got to use the hose!

  • Anti-Bullying Week launching Monday 14th November

Tue 01 Nov 2022 Mrs Mason

Monday the 14th November marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week across the UK. The theme this year is 'Reach Out' which encourages children to think about who they can reach out to if they are experiencing bullying. We'll explore what bullying means (repeated and consistent unkind words or behaviour) and how to deal with it in school. We are launching the day with a song from  Andy and the Odd Socks and invite children and adults to wear odd socks into school. The children will have an assembly from Mrs Sutherland sharing resources from the Anti-Bullying Alliance and will have some follow up activities in class. There are also resources to share at home on their website Anti-Bullying Week 2022: Reach Out (anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk)

    Many Thanks

    Mrs Mason

  • Black History Month

    Mon 31 Oct 2022

During October we celebrated Black History Month. Throughout the month we learnt about individuals from the past and present who have made significant contributions to society such as Rosa Parks and Marcus Rashford. We learnt about the Black American artist Alma Thomas and created some fantastic artwork in her style which is on display by the library - take a look when you walk past!
