What a great World Food Day event! Following an assembly to learn about World Food Day and how we can reduce food waste, we had the opportunity to try foods from all over the world! Thank you to all the families who contributed food from all over the world…England, Russia, Holland, Wales, Lithuanian, Portugal, Seychelles, India, Greece, Germany…

  • Harvest

    Thu 29 Sep 2022

In September, we celebrated Harvest. Children in each year group learnt a harvest song and shared it at our whole school assembly. We were pleased to welcome Pastor Neil who spoke to the children about why harvest is important for Christians.

It was fantastic that we were once again able to collect donations to support Bristol Food Bank. We collected a huge amount of food and essential items to support those in need in our local area.

  • Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Fri 27 May 2022 Alice Tomlinson

The whole school has had a fantastic 2 days learning about and celebrating the Platinum Jubilee. The children have spent time researching all about The Queen and what she has done for the United Kingdom. This morning was spent busily making crowns, bunting, snacks and decorations for our Jubilee party outside. Some Year 2 children performed excellently in a Jubilee assembly and we finished off with some wonderful singing of the national anthem. The weather was fantastic and great fun was had by all!

  • Term 5 Science Club

Wed 04 May 2022 Tiffany Trombetta

This term's science club with Magnetic Maggie started last week with a bang as the children explored chemical reactions. The children had raisins in a cup of vinegar, they then added baking powder to this and were shocked to see what happened (as you can see by their faces)!

The children then had to use their observational skills and asked questions about the experiment. They noticed changes such as how the temperature of the liquid changed as a result of the chemical reaction that had taken place.

The experiment was called "dancing raisins".

  • Geography Day

Fri 01 Apr 2022 Alice Tomlinson

As geographers the children spent the day learning about different countries from around the world. We studied Moldova, Jamaica, Germany, Poland, Nigeria, Albaina and Turkey. As I was walking around the school it was lovely to see children wearing the colours of the flag of the country their class was learning about ! The classes spent time , looking at maps, making flags, learning songs, listening to music, comparing Bristol to other countries and asking questions. Well done everyone !

  • Key stage 1 science club (term 4)

    Fri 04 Mar 2022

The children in KS1 are really enjoying our second term of science club with Maggie and William from Mad Science! This week's session was focused on the weather. Here you can see the children being scientists by making clouds rain into a jar. They also explored how sun cream can protect from sunlight by using invisible ink and UV torches and made clouds in a bottle by launching a rocket!

  • Sports for School Event - Visit by Jack Rutter, Paralympian

    Thu 27 Jan 2022

Jack is a GB Paralympian Footballer and captained England & GB team in European, World and Paralympic games.  He is now an England coach .  We were very lucky to have him visit our school.   He was an inspiration to all of us and demonstrated our school values and showed use what we can achieve if we 'reach for the stars.'

Some of us used the inspirational story of Jack and took part in some other sporting activities during the day.

Last week, Year 2 walked to Nightingale Valley Woods as part of their What is Home enquiry. The children were using their skills as scientists by observing closely to see if they could identify signs of life. They listened to sounds and looked at their surroundings to help them. By using their scientific skills, the children identified many different animals, insects, trees and plants!

  • KS1 write to Green Santa

Mon 29 Nov 2021 Alice Tomlinson

Today KS1 took part in the Green Santa project. Green Santa is the brother of Santa and his wish is to make the planet a better place for everyone. The children thought carefully about what they could wish for to help make the world a better place for all. We thought about small changes we could make at school and much bigger changes we would like the government to make. Take a look at some of our green wishes and check out the Green Santa website for more information!
