For Geography Day, Mars class learnt about Poland. The children found Poland on a map of Europe and looked in the atlas, they coloured a Polish flag or made necklaces like those worn in traditional Polish dress.
The children also learnt how to make surowka - a polish carrot salad. All the children helped to grate carrot and apple and then mixed it all together with raisins, lemon juice and olive oil. Finally it was time for tasting! The children were very adventurous by trying something new and showed with a thumbs up whether they liked the surowka or not.
As part of our RE learning on 'Which places are special?', the children visited St Anne's Church. The children listened to Reverend Ian who told them a bit about what happens in the church and some of the key features. The children asked lots of interesting questions and then had chance to look around the church themselves.
The children had a special plan for Mothers' Day this year. Each child wrote a very special letter to their mum saying why they loved or were thankful for them. We then went on a trip to the post box near the school to deliver our very special letters.
