St Anne's Infants' School

Reach for the Stars

Key Stage 1 Team

Katie Mercer

Teacher - Venus

Hello! My name is Katie Mercer and I have taught in both Year 1 and 2 and in a mixed year group in both Taunton and Bristol. I first decided to get into teaching when studying for my degree in English language at Kings College London. I was really interested in how language is acquired and how children learn so decided to complete my PGCE in my home town Taunton. I moved to Bristol 2 years ago and love being part of a vibrant city community. In my spare time I am a huge book worm and an avid cycler. I also love travelling and experiencing different cultures. I have been fortunate enough to visit lots of Europe, India, Cambodia, Malaysia and Thailand. I am very much looking forward to becoming part of the St Anne’s team.

Kelly Mason

Alice Griffin

Teacher - Mercury

Hello, I am Miss Griffin and I have been a teacher since 2005.  I have had the privilege of working with children through from Nursery through to Year 6.  Most of my time at St Anne's Infants' has been as a Nursery teacher and I am now lucky enough to be part of the Year 1 team.

Outside of school, my young son keeps me very busy.  We spend a lot of time outdoors playing, scooting, walking and camping.  He is a source of constant inspiration and gives me lots of creative ideas to bring into the classroom.  I also love to keep fit and healthy through yoga, running and exercise classes!

A little bit about me...In my spare time I enjoy travelling the world and visiting different countries and cities. I love the sun so I am always in search of some sunshine! Holidays are the perfect time for me to delve into a good book. I enjoy socalising and spending time with my family and friends exploring new places.

Tiffany Brown

Teacher - Pluto

Hello, I'm Miss Brown and I teach Wednesday afternoons, Thursdays and Fridays in Pluto class. My teaching career began in Leicester where I studied for my PGCE in 2012. I then taught in a school in Leicester for three years before joining the St Anne's team in 2016. No day is the same when you are a teacher and that is what I love most. It certainly never gets boring! Outside of work, I have a cheeky little boy who is now one year old and he keeps me very busy!

Jose Badock (currently on leave)

Teacher - Jupiter

Hello, I am Mrs Badock, Jupiter Class teacher. I qualified as a teacher is 2012 and have been teaching at St Anne's ever since. During my time at St Anne's I have enjoyed teaching Reception as well as Year 2. My favourite subject to teach is PE and I love running as well as a range of fitness activities in my free time. I lead PE at St Anne's and thoroughly enjoy inspiring the children as well as watching their fitness levels go from strength to strength. In recent years I have completed numerous 10k runs and have done a skydive for the charity CLIC. I love to travel and enjoy nothing more than relaxing on the beach and swimming in the sea. I have been to Hawaii, Bermuda, Australia and lots of states across America.

Interesting fact: I attended St Anne's School as a child!

Lisa Johnson

Student teacher - Neptune

Hi, I’m Mrs Johnson and I’ve been working at St. Annes’ as an LSA for five years. I love it so much, I have decided to train to be a teacher. In my previous life I worked in the food industry developing ready meals for supermarkets.  I still enjoy experimenting with food and trying out new recipes on family and friends.  I am an avid reader and I love to talk to the children (and anyone who will listen) about books. I’m often off to places, old and new, with my husband, 2 children and dog in our caravan where we enjoy walking, cycling, skiing, canoeing and competitive Sudoku!

Anna Herbert

Hello there, I'm Anna Herbert and I've worked as an LSA at St Anne's for 6 years, mainly with the Year 1 and 2 children. I also supported a child with cerebral palsy for her 3 years at our school which I found very rewarding. I have two daughters who keep me pretty busy as well as various pets and I also love to be active and being outside. I can often be spotted out rowing on the stretch of river that runs along St Anne's and past Beese's. Keep an eye out for me next time you're having a walk on the towpath!

Andrea Murray

Hi, I'm Mrs Murray and I've been a Teaching Assistant at St Anne's since 2012, working in Year 1 and 2 as well as Reception. I originally qualified as a secondary school teacher but found I really enjoy working with younger children, particularly watching their language skills grow as they learn to read and write and discuss their ideas. I also really like reading, children's books and adult ones! Outside of school, I have a husband and two sons who enjoy football, rugby, and karate, we love exploring beaches and are looking forward to heading back to Wales in our tent.

Jen Owen

Hello there, I’m Jen Owen and I’m an LSA in Year 2. I originally qualified as a teacher in 2007 and worked at a school in Easton until 2015 when I became a stay-at-home parent to my three young children. Since then I have invigilated GCSEs and A-levels and marked key stage 2 SATs. In my spare time I volunteer with the homeless charity St. Mungo’s and help to organise a homeless outreach group. I also enjoy getting out into the countryside and exploring with my family.
