St Anne's Infants' School

Reach for the Stars

Mars Class

A Visit from Music Makers!

To kick start our enquiry, 'What makes a good story?', we invited in some expert storytellers! The children listened attentively to the story about Terrence the Tiddler who learnt how to be brave. The children really enjoyed joining in with the different actions for the sea creatures and joined in with telling the story when we were asked.

Philosophers: RE

This term in RE we are learning about stories that are special in different religions. We have started the topic with a Christian story from the Bible about Jesus calming the storm. The children helped to tell the story by being the waves, the wind, the boat or some of the characters. Afterwards the childre retold the story themselves using the props available or by drawing story maps. The next day, the children continued their learning by drawing pictures of stormy seas using oil pastels outside.

This term the children in Mars class went on their first trip to the forest! We were very excited and had a fantastic time exploring some of our local area, especially St Anne's Woods. The children listened carefully to the forest school rules and practised safety throughout our trip, including while crossing the roads. We looked at different plants, saw snails, spiders and bees, and climbed in trees and on rocks. The children particularly enjoyed exploring the brook - fortunately our wellies kept us mostly dry!
