Useful information about Reception

General Info

For those parents and carers who weren't able to attend the meeting on Friday afternoon, please read the following information. Firstly, we have loved getting to know the children, all of whom are beginning to settle in really well. We ask that all children have a water bottle in school daily, filled only with water as opposed to any sugary drinks, as we are a 'Healthy School'. It's very important your child has access to water each day, to keep them healthy and ready to learn. Hydration has a positive effect on children's ability to focus throughout the day. Please ensure your child wears the correct PE kit to school every Thursday. Every student should have plain black shoes as part of their everyday uniform, and a St Anne's bookbag. Please ensure all uniform, lunch boxes, bookbags and water bottles are clearly labelled. Any uniform or belongings without a label will be labelled by your child's teacher. Please remove straps from bookbags and have no keyrings attached. Ensure the bag is clearly labelled on the front of the bookbag. Children should not wear jewellery or watches to school. All children should have a waterproof at school, kept on their peg so they can learn outside in all weather conditions. As the days start to get colder, your child should come in wearing a more substantial coat. All parents should now have access to Tapestry, your child's online learning journal. You should have received an email inviting you to activate your account so you can see what your child has been up to at school. At St Anne's we have a delightful, well-stocked library. If you'd like to go with your child after school, it is open after school on Tuesday afternoons. Amazingly it is run by volunteers, however at the moment we don't have enough parents to open it more than one afternoon session. If you think you could spare some time to help in the library, we would welcome and appreciate your support. Please see your child's class teacher or Mrs Sowerbutts, via the school office if you'd like to support. In week 4, our first 'Stay and Read' session will start. This is a 15 minute session, after you drop your child off at school that you can stay in the classroom and read with them at school. The session finishes at 9:00am prompt, so we can begin the day's routine. Finally, if you think you could offer some time to help in Reception, we would very much welcome parent helpers. Please speak to your child's class teacher if you think you could offer some of your time. Many thanks for all your support in this vital transition time. The children have all made a fabulous start at St Anne's, and we look forward to having them in school full time.

We'd like to remind all parents not to allow children to play on school equipment, in outdoor classrooms or on Nursery equipment during school drop-off and pick up times.
