St Anne's Infants' School

Reach for the Stars

Useful information about Reception

Once the children have settled in to their Reception classes, we will be sending home two reading books. One will be a pink level reading scheme book and the other will be a book which supports the children in practising their phonics skills and applying the phonic sounds they have been learning at school.

Parents are asked to read these books with their children a minimum of three times a week and to practise reading and writing the key words which will be sent home to support the children with fluency in reading and writing.

On the day your child has PE, they should wear their PE kit to school and will remain in it all day.

Reception children have PE on the following days:

Earth class: Monday

Mars class: Tuesday

Forest School

The children each attend 6 sessions of forest school throughout the year. Forest school will take place on Friday afternoons. More details will be shared soon.

Tapestry is the online learning journal through which we record the children's independent learning and share it with parents. You can also use this platform to share learning and trips from home. The children love to share what they have been doing at home with their friends at school.
