This morning we welcomed Hannah and Sam into assembly to talk about the new martial arts club that they are going to run on Thursdays in Term 5; Krav Maga. It is a combination of different techniques from boxing, judo, karate etc. and really focusses on teaching children to keep themselves safe. Some of the children got to try out a couple of the moves.
What a fabulous day we had. The children looked wonderful in their costumes and pjs and thoroughly enjoyed the activities planned for the day. We were joined by Pridie from The Wild of Words who led captivating storytelling sessions with each class; it was fantastic to see how she brought the stories to life in our library that we are so lucky to have and she described as 'divine'!
Back to Year 2 for lunch this term and it was a pleasure to spend time with these children, hearing about their birthdays and what they are wearing for World Book Day tomorrow.
We were delighted to take part in the local community arts event Window Wanderland again this year. The theme was 'green' and a big thank you goes to Laura from Colourful Minds who came in to run workshops with some of our budding artists. They created animals, trees and plants to reflect our local woodland. I think you will agree they looked fantastic and certainly brightened up the wet and windy nights.
As part of Year 2's latest enquiry 'What did Brunel do for Great Britain?' the children were visited by a local engineer whose company had recently done some work in the local area. Take a look at the photos!
