  • Don't stop believing!

    Wed 23 Oct 2019

This term we have been focusing on our value of ‘self-belief’. We talked about setting goals, knowing that the path to achieving them will not always be easy, what we can do when things get hard and how to keep our thinking more positive as being a self-believer can be hard when you’re not feeling positive.

In our final KS1 celebration assembly of the term, the teachers chose a person from each class who they feel embodies ‘self-belief’.

Wow - what amazing designers, milliners and models we have in Year 1. The children have worked so hard throughout their enquiry 'What can my hat be made of?' and it was wonderful to see their creations this morning. Take a look at the fashion videos in the video resource centre.
  • Collaborative Poetry Walk

During this week our Year 2 children innovated the poem 'Nobody Knows' by Rachel Rooney. They headed back to the woods today to meet up with Broomhill Infants' Year 2, and the Wood Elf was also there again! Here are some photos of our trip and if you head to our Video Resource Centre, you will be able to hear our wonderful poems!

  • World Food Day

Wed 16 Oct 2019 Mrs Ahmed

World Food Day food tasting was a great success this year! Thank you to all those who brought in delicious treats for all to try. Children, parents/carers and staff all had a lovely time - there's nothing quite like food to bring everyone together!

A special thanks to children who came in dressed in the colours of various countries/places of the world. It was lovely to see diversity being embraced. The children loved telling me which countries they were representing and did so with pride. We had France, Finland, Holland, Lithuania, Russia, Madiera as well England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales being represented too. I tried to speak to all, but may have missed a few!

The World Food Day charity do brilliant work to tackle big global issues such as poverty/hunger around the world. Thank you for marking the day with us. Find out more about the charity on the official website:

  • If you go down to the woods today.... Year 2’s Poetry Week is underway!

Mon 14 Oct 2019 Nicky Weech
The Year 2 Poetry Week got off to a muddy start today as they walked to the Forest School area of the woods. Discovering clues along the way, they met a Wood Elf before then working with children from Broomhill Infants School to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds and smells of the natural woodland! What a great way to inspire our budding poets!
  • A special story in Portuguese

    Fri 11 Oct 2019
Mercury Class were very lucky to have Alana's mum come in to read a story.  She brought her favourite book and read it in Portuguese.  She then told the story in English to help the children find out what was happening.  It was good fun!
