St Anne's have entered a competition run by Bristol Water with over 100 different schools taking part. Our task was to think carefully about the importance of water and why and how we should be saving water. Each school was asked to use their creative skills to decorate a Water Butt. KS1 children loved decorating ours with flowers and raindrops to remind people of how water is important in nature. Bristol Water will choose their favorite design and award the winning school with a prize!
A HUGE THANK YOU for the amazing harvest food collection for the Trussell Trust. It has been delivered to Kate at the East Bristol food bank and she was DELIGHTED (via pick up truck, as we had so much!) Kate will weigh the food to see how many families we have helped. A truly wonderful achievement so, thank you, thank you, thank you!!
We are delighted to be able to run a parent and child group this year. The project called Big Star Little Star got underway today and everyone had a great time working together to make stars with Colourful Minds to decorate the school halls.
This morning, Year 2 were treated to a visit from Maisie and Shelley from 'Bristol Animal Rescue Centre'. They talked about the fantastic work that the charity does to support and help animals in our local area. The children asked some insightful questions and showed a real interest in finding out more about how they can support the charity.
It was wonderful to bring the whole school together after so long for our harvest festival this morning. We received an incredible number of donations to support the fantastic work that South and East Bristol Food Bank do helping those in need within our local area. Each year group has been learning a harvest song and it was a delight to see and hear them perform to the rest of the school. A very special celebration.
At the end of term, staff were asked to reflect on the year and the current position of St Anne's, including our strengths. This picture summarises their responses and we think it embodies our ethos perfectly.
It wasn't just the temperatures that were high today! The children's determination and resilience were soring as they took part in a variety of activities and challenges. It was also amazing to see the support and encouragement they gave one another as team players and to watch the sense of pride they felt as they achieved success.
The classes who sadly couldn't be in school to take part were very much missed but it was lovely to see some of you joining in at home.
On Wednesday, we celebrated 'National Writing Day'. The theme this year was connection.
This past year, we have not been able to do all of the things we used to do, go to all of the places we loved or see some of the people we love the most. However, we can use writing as a way to connect us with these people and places. We talked about how writing connected us over the pandemic and how we wrote messages, emails and texts to stay connected to people we couldn’t see. Each child across the school was given a post-it note and the freedom to write what they wanted, but most wanted to write messages to their friends and family.
We are so very grateful to the Friends of St Anne's for funding these two incredible murals in our school halls. Created by White Space Mural Designs, they look absolutely incredible and really bring our school values to life!
